    Sky Broadband’s Netgear Router Problems?

    September 25th, 2006 byPhilip Nicosia

I’m starting to get really wound up now with the Sky Broadband provided Netgear DG834GT. I don’t know whether the one I’ve got is faulty or this is the norm but the wireless range on it is rubbish.

I’m struggling to get a connection less than 5 meters away from the router. Anyone else having the same problem?

Im getting EXACTLY the same problem!!

I can take my laptop out of the same room in my house with a loss of connection.

I called ‘tech services’ whos best advice was ‘try moving the box to a better location?’

RUBBISH…. I never had such issues with Telewest Broadband, who I wish I was still with.

I don’t have a problem with Sky Broadband as such, just the router they have supplied although someone has cracked how you can use your own now.

The netgear router definitely does have a limted transmission distance, mine is about 8 metres in a bungalow.
My bigger problem is the continual dnserror.htm form sky and that I can never log on, has naybody resolved this?

Hi all , the sky routers are crap, wireless range is hopeless and connection drops out continually, i have to unplug and reboot every hour or so. i`ve got into the router, admin and password is sky but you can`t update the firmware on the netgear website, can anyone provide the settings for using a linksys srx router as i`ve tried but couldn`t figure it out yet. linksys is great. had many routers but only ever had to reboot my linksys once in over a year and now i cant use it!argghhh!!!!!!
      thanks
