Google Fixes Spamming of Google Docs

    January 31st, 2007 byPhilip Nicosia

It looks like Google has fixed the spamming issue with Google docs. When you do a site search of Google docs it only returns 1 result whereas before it was a couple of thousand url only listings.

Google docs was being used successfully to spam Google and gained many top 10 competitive results which contained little more than an external link to an affiliate site.

It took them a while to sort out and it must have been embarrassing for them as a lot of these search terms were for adult themed site.

I guess it was good for the spammers for a while but like anything obvious was destined to end. I bet some of them made a ton of money though.

    Shilpa Wins Celebrity Big Brother

    January 29th, 2007 byPhilip Nicosia

Congratulations to Shilpa for winning Celebrity Big Brother. A well deserved win in my opinion and with 63% of the vote a convincing win at that.

It was interesting to see that the top 3 celebrities weren’t British. If you include Ian in that (he’s Welsh) then it’s the top 4.

That says a lot about our so called UK celebrities and their behaviour in the house.

On Russell’s program after the show there was a noteable absence of Jade, Jo, Daniel and Jackiey.

Jo Evicted - No Surprise There

    January 28th, 2007 byPhilip Nicosia

It came as no surprise that Jo was evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house but I was surprised that she showed no remorse for any of her actions in the house seemlingly comfortable with her behavior.

She has been reported as saying she wouldn’t change a thing that she said or did.

That says it all really and demonstrates exactly what she is like.

    Sony UX280P - Unlocking

    January 27th, 2007 byPhilip Nicosia

One of my brothers recently bought a Sony UX280p as a treat to himself for giving up smoking after seeing my Sony UX180P. The main differences between the two are more ram and a bigger hard disk drive in the UX280P.

When he got it he didn’t realize that he had a sim card in it and could use it to access the internet on a 3G connection in the UK. He even deleted the Cingular Connection Software that came with it.

Anyway, after pointing out the error in his ways he was able to download the Cingualar Connection Software from here.

Once he had done that he was able to unlock the Cingular Edge Card so he could use it on another network and then got it up and running with a payg T-Mobile sim card taking advantage of their unlimited internet access for £1 a day.

To do this he followed the instructions that I had previously written for the Sony UX180P and these worked just the same for his UX280P so if you need to unlock the Cingualar Edge card on the Sony UX280P or use a T-Mobile sim card with it then just follow the instructions on the pages below:

    Big Brother Voting Fiasco

    January 26th, 2007 byPhilip Nicosia

Just when you thought it couldn’t get anymore embarrassing for Channel 4, they have now announced that due to human error where it said on the TV vote to save Shilpa instead of vote to evict Shilpa they have now had to cancel all votes and start again.

Channel 4 are offering a refund to people who had already voted and more details can found on their website here.
