Sky HD will work on a normal TV
September 19th, 2007 byJust in case anyone else want’s this confirmed, SKY HD will work on a normal TV (non HD). The SKY HD box comes with a scart socket that you can connect to your TV.
You don’t even need to subscribe to HD channels. When I got mine I simply rang up Sky and spoke to their HD department to activate my card in the new box and told them I didn’t want to pay the extra £10 a month for HD channels as I couldn’t watch them anyway and it wasn’t a problem for them.
The only downside is the SKY Anytime programes that are sent to the box are often in HD format and I can’t watch them. It’s no big problem really as there isn’t anything there that you couldn’t record with SKY+ anyway.

Thanks for this. I know you wrote it a long time ago but I needed to know this answer, and googling the question listed you 2nd after Sky’s fairly unhelpful site. The power of the internet!
