Recently we went away on a short break to Devon. We don’t normally go away in this country but my girlfriend thought it might make a nice change.
Big mistake. It was so bad we came home early. What really pissed me off was there was no mobile phone service where we were staying and to get a signal you had to drive 5 miles! I wasn’t bothered about the phone but I needed to use the data. We had almost a full choice of networks to choose from, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Three. None of them worked.
Now I have never been to a foreign country where we couldn’t get mobile phone service. Even in the remotest of places where you wouldn’t expect to get it we did. So why can’t the UK networks get their act together and give us what we are paying for? A working mobile phone service.

Want an iPhone but can’t wait for the UK release? Well as with anything if you are prepared to pay a premium to be the first among your friends to get an iPhone then the good news is they are available to buy in the UK today.
The bad news though is currently you won’t be able to use all the features of the phone including making calls as they are all currently locked to the US service provider AT&T. It is possible to use the iPhone as an iPod and with a Wi-Fi connection as hackers have been working hard and have found ways to activate these services without the need of a service contract from AT&T.
I’m sure it is only a matter of time that hackers will have figured out a way to unlock all the features of the iPhone including the all important ability to use any service provider’s sim card and phone facility and reports on the internet suggest this is only a matter of hours away.
So if you can’t wait anymore and are prepared to take a risk of being able to get these fully unlocked or are happy with an expensive iPod with Wi-fi then below is a list of what is available to you today.

In what has got to be the most hyped and anticipated launch of a mobile phone ever, the Apple iPhone is launched tomorrow in Apple Stores and At&T stores tomorrow.
I’m sure there will be a lot of criticism of the phone which will get big press coverage around the world but you’ve got to give credit to Apple for shaking up the mobile phone market.
It’s not going to arrive in Europe until the end of this year but that’s not such a bad thing. If there are any problems with the phone they will probably be ironed out by then and a lot more widgets will be available to us on launch.

I came across this great site the other day that has tons of free mobile phone games - Mobilerated.com.
Normally when you see things like this your 1st thought is ‘What’s the catch’ and quite simply there isn’t one. You are given choices to download direct to your PC so you can then transfer your new mobile game to your phone with a datacable, infra-red or bluetooth connection, totally free and legit or if you want you can download it onto your phone by visiting their WAP site. Using your phone will incur a small cost by your provider for the data download but usually that’s pretty cheap.
I managed to download Sudoku for Motorola KRZR K1 and it works great.

I’m not big on playing games but for those of you who are it’s great site to find some free games.

I just moved providers from EasyMobile to T-Mobile. Once EsayMobile put there minimum call charge up to 1 minute it was no longer competive for me. T-Mobile have much cheaper data rates too which is good for me.
Anyway, I am surprised how easy the whole process was. All I had to do was contact Easymobile for a PAC number, ring that through to T-Mobile and 5 days later exactly when they said it would happen it did.
The only problem I had was finding where I put the T-Mobile sim card while I was waiting for it all to happen.
