    Switched Off The Webcam

May 29th, 2007 by Philip Nicosia

I’ve had to switch my webcam off. We’ve had loads of rain over the weekend and the lake is starting to flood. At the rate it is going I imagine my webcam will be under water tomorrow.

Unfortunately because the water is so high I can no longer get to it to take it down so I might need to buy another one if I can find one so it might be a while before it’s working again.

The company I bought it from has stopped trading I think so if anyone knows where you can buy Neu Fusion wireless network cameras then please let me know.

    Baby Grebes

May 24th, 2007 by Philip Nicosia

I’ve lived on Watermead for a few years now and not seen this before.

    Baby Grebes

We spotted a couple of baby Grebes on the lake. The mother was diving for small fish and bringing them up for the baby grebes to eat.

    Action Cam Video

May 23rd, 2007 by Philip Nicosia

Well this is my first attempt with the Action Cam. I attached it to the handlebars of my Harley but had to mount it to one side as the headlight would have been in the way of the camera if I put it on the middle.

The camera is mounted to the left of the headlight as you look at it.

The picture quality isn’t too bad. It is actually better than what you can see here as it is degraded slightly to put it on the web.

The built in microphone had a bit of a problem with the noise coming from my bike which is very loud but all in all I’m impressed with this little gadget. Press play to watch the movie.

    Action Camera

I been good recently and haven’t bought any gadgets for a while now but when on saw this on Firebox.com I couldn’t resist.

    Action Camera

It’s an Action Camera which you can strap to your helmet or handlebars and film what you see when you’re out and about. It stores the video on an SD card and with a 2GB SD card you can record both image and sound at 30 fps 640 x 480 pixels for 60 minutes.

I’m going to attach it to the handlebars of my Harley and see how it comes out.

I’ll post the video after I’ve been out on my bike.

First Choice Airways - More Like Last Choice Airways

May 22nd, 2007 by Philip Nicosia

We recently went to Cyprus for a week in the hope of getting some sun and to chill out for a week. The hotel was fantastic (Riu Cypria Maris), an all inclusive deal with great food and plenty of drinks and I’d gladly recommend it to anyone.

The same cannot be said about First Choice Airways who we flew with. We booked with Thomas Cook and when the flight details came through I remember thinking that I’d seen some adverts somewhere about First Choice and their claim of more room for passengers in their planes so I was quite pleased.

Well things change fast. On arrival at Luton airport 2 hours before take-off it took us 1 hour and 40 minutes to check in. We then had 20 minutes to get through security and then to the gate. This was really cutting it fine.

Anyway, onto the plane and yes I would concede their seats are bigger (wider) than most charter airlines but what they fail to mention is there is little leg room for anyone other than a midget and the seats are like sitting on concrete. The flight was about 4 and half hours and after around 15 minutes I had to get some pain killers from my girlfriend. It really was that uncomfortable.

Coming back from Cyprus the airport check-in wasn’t so much of a problem. They had 5 desks open rather than the 2 at Luton and surprisingly they didn’t seem too bothered about security there. I was surprised as an EU member country there was none of the put your liquids in clear bags and the guy checking boarding passes just waived everyone through.

The flight home was as uncomfortable as before (no surprise there) and to top it all when we eventually got to Luton at about 1.30 in the morning my bag wasn’t there. It took us until about 3.00 am to find someone to report my bag missing too.

Fortunately they found it the next day but all in all First Choice I would say you would be my Last Choice.
